Igor Vujacic wins Club Player of the Season award

Igor Vujacic received most votes in a FK Partizan official Instagram poll to make him club`s player of the season.

26-year old centre-back made a total of 26 apps this season, scoring 5 goals in the process.

We spoke to Vujacic after his international game with Montenegro and a 3-1 defeat to Israel:

 

-Honestly, I was quite surprised by the voting results. We are under massive pressure and love and hate relationship with fans is always present. We have a tough season behind us and it makes it even more special to see fans pick me but it`s all about team effort. As for the Israel friendly, they played their strongest side. Israel is full of quality players, our Natcho among them. He`s the captain of their national team, their leader. On the other hand, it was hard for us as we played short of some of our best players, said Vujacic.

 

Natcho made the remark yesterday about receiving a knock from Vujacic and Israeli international jokingly promised Partizan Montenegrin it will be a payback time once they return to Belgrade.

“As for the tackle, I did intentionally stepped on his foot. Nothing too strong but I cannot wait to see his revenge on me”, laughs Vujacic.

 

After international friendly, Vujacic will spent some time with his family in Montenegro.

-I`ll stay in Montenegro, I`m going nowhere now. My family is here and I don`t see them often during the season. My fiance is with me so we`ll enjoy the beauty of Montenegro in full swing”.

 

With Svetozar Markovic back to Olympiacos from Partizan loan, Vujacic has a new centre-back partner in Sinisa Sanicanin, alongside seasoned Bojan Ostojic.

 

-It was nice playing alongside Markovic but now he`s gone. I wish him to become regular at Olympiacos as he fully deserves it. I didn`t meet Sanicanin yet but I know he is a great player. I hope we`ll work well together”, said Vujacic.

 

Partizan will play new UEFA Conference League qualifiers next season.

-I`m sure it will be tough but our objective is to reach group stage, We`ll do our best to get there”.
