After midweek European win over Koln and Sunday`s beating of Cukaricki, we spoke to FK Partizan General Director Milos Vazura on both European and domestic successes off recent.
-We had five starting line-up changes yesterday and we feared this game a bit. Unfortunately, only in Serbia you can hear voices of title being lost after just five rounds of football. We need to change that and I think season is long enough for things to be changed around. We were five points ahead last season and we lost the title. Since the arrival of Gordan Petric, Partizan plays different and better football. It`s not easy, we had way too tough game yesterday with number of our players fatigued. Now we play a number of games at home and it looks easier for us from that point of view but the team is tired. This win against Cukaricki was really important, said Milos Vazura.
Partizan achieved a double against Koln in UEFA ECL and knockout stage of the competition is a reality for our team now.
-Of course, we are over the moon about it. Koln is sixth of seventh-placed in Bundesliga, one serious tem and we`ve seen it all when we played away in Cologne. We didn`t believe we can win them twice but it turned out we played really well and Petric set the scene in a really good fashion, his charges are doing their job.
It`s clear we all regret Petric didn`t start the season at the helm.
-Speaking to him, I can see he relaxed the team. When he took over, all he said was they need to be more tranquil and I think he did that. Petric now continues his job for everyone to see. We play in European competition, we have continuity but we are still far from knockout stage, two tough games remain to be played. After the draw, we thought our group was too strong, now everyone talks about Partizan remaining at the top and we are close to do it. We have Nice away and Slovacko home, they beat Nice away last week. We believe in Petric and I think he can manage this, along with the players of course, said Milos Vazura.
As for the upcoming transfer window, it`s expected Partizan Sporting Director Ivica Kralj to be busy on the market.
-There`ll be no many departures. The base of the team stays and we need to strengthen certain playing positions. In accordance to Petric`s and Kralj`s desires, we`ll do everything to sign players they want.
