After Marko Nikolic resigned as head coach, Partizan signed Miroslav Djukic for his second spell at Partizan dugout.
Previously, Djukic was Partizan head coach from January 2007 until January 2008. Back then, he arrived to Partizan from Serbian U-21 coaching post with whom he achieved runners-up spot at EC. He moved from Partizan to coach senior Serbian national team, followed by spells at Mouscron from Belgium, Hercules, Valladolid, Valencia and Cordoba in Spain, signing to Partizan from Dubai outfit Al Shabab.
During his playing career, 51-year-old Djukic played for his hometown club Macva Sabac, Rad, Deportivo La Coruna, Valencia and Tenerife. He was close to sign for Partizan in the late 80s but moved to Rad instead. Djukic also made 48 apps for national team.
FK Partizan Sports Director Ivica Iliev on Djukic`s arrival:
– I have a great pleasure to announce Miroslav Djukic is our new coach. I could say a lot of praise about his playing and coaching career. Most importantly, we showed football scene is Serbia and Europe our greatness, stability, strength and idea. We want to be better with each each new season coming up and this is proof we are working on it. I`m convinced Djukic will continue his great coaching career. Lots of people say Partizan was playing such a great football game when Djukic was coach here previously. When I signed for my job I said I want us to play beautiful football and this is one proof we are going forward and we have no intention of slowing down.
– It`s hard to say it`s been ten years since I was here, so many face I know, only there are few more grey hairs. I`m so happy to be home, in my club. Iliev says he is happy with me coming here but I`m even happier. Partizan means so much to me and I want us to keep going. I`m proud when I hear people talking about Partizan playing style back in time when I was coaching here. I`ll do my best to make Partizan even better now. I`m not here to invent but to achieve Partizan aims though. We are all Partizan soldiers and we are here to fulfill fan`s desire and demands.
We have to be aware that we are Partizan, a great team. There are lots of great things here, we just need to upgrade them a bit and to have faith in ourselves and our qualities. We have lots of young players willing to learn and advance, you just need to be capable of leading them.
