Partizan academy graduate Svetozar Markovic moved to Olympiacos in 2019 and after a loan spell at Larissa he was loaned back to Partizan in 2020, becoming a regular at his home club. We spoke to 21-year old centre-back about his future and national team career with Serbian youths.
“As for my future, my contract states that I`m obligated to return to Greece come summer. At the moment I don`t know if there`s a buy option from Partizan or if Olympiacos is going to keep me or sell me. I`ll know more in two or three months” – said Markovic.
“I played only two games at Olympiacos but I advanced a lot training with good players there. Games on loan to Larissa meant a lot as well”.
Svetozar Markovic plays for Serbia U-21 team. Previously, he made a total of 22 apps for U-16, U-17 and U-18 teams. Now, after 11 games for U-21`s, can Markovic hope for senior Serbia team call-up?
“It`s on me to keep training and play well but it`s on people from the FA to decide if I`m going to play for the national team”.
Markovic scored for Serbia U-21`s in a recent international break friendly win against Turkey.
“My Partizan teammate Stevanovic`s assist was rather good. I managed to score after a long time. Last time I scored was during my first spell with Partizan, two years ago”.
