Partizan were defeated by Getafe 3-1 (1-1) in the first leg of the UEFA Conference League play-off.

Although the final score does not reflect it, Saša Ilić's players delivered a brave, bold and high-quality performance in the Madrid suburbs. However, a slow start to the match and a lapse in concentration towards the end proved decisive, as three balls ended up in Marko Milošević's net. Enes Ünal found the breakthrough in the 10th minute, while Andrés García in the 87th minute and Johan Mojica in the 90th minute found a way past Partizan's defensive line.

Everything that happened between those goals showed just how cruel football can be and how missed chances can be punished. Partizan's South American centre-forward hit the crossbar in the 54th minute, while Milan Roganović had an excellent opportunity after an assist from Milan Aleksić but fired over the bar from close range with nobody around him.

Partizan created further opportunities after Abdel Abqar received his second yellow card in the 68th minute, leaving Getafe with 10 men. However, those chances, as well as Nikola Čumić's effort that struck the post, were punished at the other end, meaning the Black and Whites will have to overcome a two-goal deficit in the return leg at Humska in seven days.

However, based on the performance and with massive support from the stands, nothing is impossible. The Black and Whites showed that they can compete with a La Liga side, which they pinned back inside its own penalty area for long periods of the match.
