Partizan squad off to Moscow

02 Jul 2024 NEWS

Partizan squad flew from Belgrade to Moscow today, for a 10-day,  second part of pre-season preps, including participation in Moscow Fraternal Cup.

New boss Stanojevic picked a total of players, including 3 goalies.

Besides Partizan, Fraternal Cup will include organizers Dynamo Moscow, CSKA Moscow and OFK Beograd.

During the tournament, Belgrade clubs will play against Moscow teams and pick points for their city. Partizan will play Dynamo at VTB Arena on 3rd of July and CSKA at the same venue four days later – a closing game of the event.

Straight-out wins are valued at three points while 90-minute draw would lead to penalty shoot-out with winners picking up two and losing side one point.

Organizers underlined it will be all-out fraternal tournament with promotion of Serbian music, culture, food and option of souvenir purchase and exchange. This festival kind of atmosphere will support sport and football while nurturing friendship and tradition.

Former Partizan boss Marko Nikolic took over coaching helm at CSKA recently where he will be in charge of former Partizan player Sasa Zdjelar among others. Former football players Zoran Tosic and Milos Krasic are also expected to take part.

Current Partizan player and one of the second-choice team captain Bibars Natcho played for CSKA back in the season 2014/15.

Svetozar Markovic on upcoming tournament:

-After strenuous training sessions in Belgrade and Slovenia, we are entering part of the pre-season where we can implement things we worked on in recent weeks. It`s important we play against strong teams like CSKA and Dynamo as it will be perfect test ahead of the CL qualifiers. I`ve heard Fraternal Cup will be organized in an excellent fashion and I`m looking forward to lots of fans from our country, region and Russia.

Bibars Natcho:

-I`m sure it will be one good tournament. For us, it`s important to play good teams as we start our league in less than three weeks, followed by European competitions. We need good preparation. We work hard but we also need good games, to see where we stand, to play some quality minutes on the football field. For me personally, it`s nice to come back to a city where I lived for four years, where my son is born and to play against my former club, of course. I hope we`ll have 10 beautiful days there, with good football and good games for us, making us stronger and ready for the season ahead.
