Partizan were beaten 2:1 (2:1) by Crvena zvezda in the eighth round of the Mozzart Bet Serbian SuperLiga.

The aggression with which Saša Ilić’s side entered the 180th Eternal Derby paid off in the very first minute, as Brazilian forward Jeh found the net after just 49 seconds, scoring the fastest goal in the history of the Eternal Derby. The Black and Whites knew how to play in those moments, asking more questions of their opponents, and only a little more composure was needed to preserve the lead.

However, the home side equalised through Dieng in the 17th minute, before Ivanić completed the turnaround from the penalty spot two minutes before the half-hour mark.

Those two goals, however, did not drain the Black and Whites of their energy. On the contrary, this was particularly evident in the second half, as Partizan showed tremendous fighting spirit and constantly pressured their opponents in their own half, creating a number of chances. These opportunities were not the result of luck, but came from well-worked and rehearsed moves combined with individual quality.

Brazilian forward Jeh had two excellent chances late in the game to score an equaliser, while Milan Aleksić had an opportunity to do the same in the 55th minute, but his effort struck the crossbar.

Overall, Partizan showed far more in this match than the result suggests, while Saša Ilić confirmed that he is raising the team’s level of form and that even better results can be expected in the future.
