Partizan were beaten 1:0 (1:0) by Železničar in Pančevo in the 12th round of the Mozzart Bet Serbian SuperLiga.
Milan Aleksić came close to putting the Black and Whites ahead in the very first minute following a quick transition, and moments later goalkeeper Popović saved his long-range effort. However, Partizan were punished in the 13th minute when Simao Pedro set up Anke, who slotted the ball past Marko Milošević.
The goal sparked Partizan into action, and before half-time the Black and Whites had chances to equalise through Čumić and Aleksić. Čumić came closest, narrowly failing to turn the ball into the home side’s net in the 36th minute. Partizan continued to control the match after the break and were the better side on the pitch, but a little luck was all that stood between them and avoiding defeat.
The closing stages became more difficult after Mario Jurčević was sent off in the 73rd minute following a VAR review. Ten minutes before the end, the officials again consulted VAR but did not award a penalty for handball by Davorin Tošić inside his own penalty area.
Erik Kojzek had the final opportunity to change the result in stoppage time, but the home side’s defenders managed to clear the ball for a corner.
