Partizan team captain, goalkeeper Aleksandar Jovanovic, spoke to the media representatives on his Antalya winter camp impressions.
“Friendlies will never be like official matches for me. Therefore, we use this comfortable space to push and try certain things. We are aware of our mistakes and we try to reduce them to minimum. It`s not easy when there`s lots of new things but we try to meet all demands. Of course, we need time for all this new stuff but we are on course. Naturally, there will be ups and downs but that`s normal at this stage”, said Partizan skipper.
Jovanovic revealed he had individual meetings with new boss Blagojevic. What was he asked to do as a team captain?
“First of all, it`s about responsibility, that`s what really matters when you play for a club of this size. I try to help new boss, it`s not easy for him. People don`t understand how specific Partizan as a club is and it not easy to manage your way around it. We need focus of everyone involved for us to move in a right direction. There is a difference when you play for Partizan or some smaller club, player is not the same in a smaller club compared to Partizan and it`s different when you have to implement your ideas in Partizan compared to a smaller club. Expectations, pressure and responsibilities are present here on a daily basis”.
There`s lots of Partizan youngsters at Antalya training camp. Newcomers Vukotic and Milosevic are also young players and team captain is always there for them all.
“I`m always there to welcome newcomers, always there for them. They all adapted completely. This is a big club and they are aware results are all that matters. We`ll talk about other things in months ahead of us. All these young boys integrated so well. They entered the group and these preps serve us to get the team unity. People always pay attention to results but it`s never the same when you play a friendly or official game”.
Club set certain target for the rest of the season.
“Currently, club is trying to maintain the stability regarding things in the dressing room, regarding our roster and coaching staff, for our coach and his team to have the time to work on everything. We are after the cup trophy but what really matters is to get this club into the calm waters”, said Aleksandar Jovanovic.
