Partizan signed 26-year-old midfielder Kervin Arriaga from Minnesota United.
Arriaga comes to Partizan from ongoing MLS and, after doing his medicals, he will join his new teammate`s training when they return from Slovenia pre-season camp on Friday.
Honduras-born player signed a three-year deal. He picked shirt number 33.
Welcome to Partizan! You`ve here for two days already, what are your impressions of Belgrade and Partizan?
“I`m really thrilled to be here! I think this is true gift of God for me, to come to this really nice city and big club with big tradition”, said Arriaga.
You are arriving from MLS ongoing season. How would you describe yourself as a player and what are your best characteristics?
“Honestly, I arrived here with a lot of energy and I`m available to the things in a best way and for the benefit of the club. As a player, I believe I`m hard worker who tries to do everything right”.
Have you seen footage of Eternal Belgrade Derby? Did you get info on Partizan history and club`s die-hards?
“Yes, I watched derby footage and I have no doubts those games will be incredible, especially for the fans. I believe they are the most important thing for the club, 12th player. Partizan fans are truly phenomenal”.
Boss Stanojevic wanted to sign you when he was coaching in Turkey. What made your mind to sign for Partizan, is it battle for the Champions League group stage?
“I decided to come here for all the competitions, to the big club who always battle for the important things. Of course, I`m truly grateful to the boss for believing in my work. I hope I`ll be on the level he expects from me”.
You are here with you wife and baby. How did you wife reacted on your move to another continent?
“My wife is very happy and she knows this is a great opportunity for all of us. We also know it takes time for us to settle and get used to Europe but we want to do it as soon as possible. Here, everything is so small compared to States (laughs)”.
You will keep wearing shirt number 33. Does it have a special meaning to you?
Yes, number 33 is what I wear in my heart. I believe in God and this number has a symbolic meaning to me. It`s really important to me to wear this number”, said Kervin Arriaga.
