Partizan centre-back Mihajlo Ilic attended latest edition Partizan Podcast. Former Partizan academy graduate moved to Bologna in January only to return to his home club as a loanee this season. 21-year-old believes wins over Mladost and Tekstilac are beginning of a winning streak from Partizan.
“We are all Partizan fans waiting for better days and way out of this crisis present for some time now. This club can only get better if we all unite, both players and fans. We are to do our best on the pitch while fans should be there to support us. We hope that better days will come soon”, said Ilic.
Young centre-back felt both great happiness and sadness one Partizan kid cold feel regarding Eternal derby games.
“Last season, we showed trademark Grobari persistence, played a perfect game from the go up to the full-time, worked as one. I was so happy as I finally played my first derby game and I won it! As for the recent derby played, I felt ashamed, honestly. I was ashamed of myself and my performance. That night was like a bad dream. Our rival showed they are a bit ahead of us at the moment”.
Ilic didn`t get his opportunity at Bologna yet but underlines how much it means to him to work with Thiago Motta and excellent team that achieved biggest club success in 60 years by qualifying for group stage of UEFA Champions League.
“I was roommate with Calafiori who now moved to Arsenal. I tried to pick up some of his preparations and rituals ahead of the games. On my first training session, I was told to mark Zirkzee who now plays for Man U. It was a really excellent experience overall. Thiago Motta is a football visionary and I was honoured to work with him”, said Ilic.
