The President of the FK Partizan Working Group, Rasim Ljajic, and member Danko Lazovic visited the Djurdjevi Stupovi Monastery ahead of the 34th round of the Mozzart Bet Super League, in which Novi Pazar hosted Partizan.
They were welcomed by the head of the monastery, Father Gavrilo – a native of Kragujevac and a former football player. On this occasion, on behalf of FK Partizan, a signed black-and-white jersey was presented to him. It will be part of a charity auction during the traditional Easter futsal tournament. The charity tournament, aimed at raising funds for children's medical treatment, is jointly organized by the Djurdjevi Stupovi Monastery and the Orthodox Youth of the Raska region, under the patronage of the Football Association of the Western Serbia region.
This year's local tournament, featuring 50 teams from Novi Pazar and the surrounding region, begins on Sunday, May 11, and runs until May 25 – when the final matches are scheduled. As tradition holds, the games are played on the field next to the Church of St. Peter – the oldest monument of church architecture in Serbia (4th century).
All funds raised, as in previous years, will be equally divided between two children – one of Serbian and one of Bosniak ethnicity from Novi Pazar. This year, the donations are intended for Bogdan Glisovic (10), who is being treated for lymphoma, and Merva Pejovic (14), who is battling leukemia in Italy.
