Former Partizan player and coach Savo Milosevic returns to Partizan dugout, replacing Aleksandar Stanojevic who resigned after the Eternal derby defeat last week.
Recently re-appointed Sporting Director Ivica Iliev and Savo Milosevic attended official press-conference regarding the appointment of a new coach.
Ivica Iliev:
-I would like to thank now former coach Stanojevic. In football, as in life in general, nothing is a guarantee that things will turn out as they look like at a certain moment. I present you a man I admired whenever he was playing or coaching. There`s no need to remind you how we played with Savo at the helm. People asked me who will take over Partizan coaching post and I asked them who do they think we played the best football game under? They all said it was when Milosevic was by the dugout. That makes me proud and I believe we`ll have a lot more people on the stands as a result. In his first spell, Partizan profited from sales and we need it now as well. Savo is my choice. He arrives to the club when lots of things are not clear but our sporting department works independently while club`s Assembly will took place on 11th of October when we will find out about potential changes.
It was easy to get Savo back to Partizan. He loves the club and we have a wonderful relationship for years now. We were roommates back in the days when he was a big football star. Our football philosophy is matching and we will go into this together. I hope he`ll last here for a long time.
Savo Milosevic:
“We are in a tough moment regarding finances, results as well as institutionally. Month ago, I didn`t think I would find myself in this situation. When Stanojevic arrived, I believed Partizan will have tranquility and stability. I`m here once again, and basically all that matters is that I accepted to be here. Partizan needs help and I believe I can do it. It is hard but I`m not someone looking for excuses. There`s little time, domestic league is in full swing and don`t ask me any questions regarding club management.
We need to fix team defending. All ten outfield players take part in it. We can advance in all departments but defensive one needs to be sorted out as soon as possible. Once winter transfer window starts, we`ll have an opportunity to fix other things. There`s international break after the next weekend`s round of football and it will mean a lot to us, for things I would love to do. I didn`t make this team and I will have to adapt to it but it`s clear they can do better. Stanojevic is my mate, man of this club, he knows about all the problems here, I have to learn about it yet. From what I`ve seen, there were good play spells in some of the matches but they didn`t last long.
Analyses are least of my worries. We need more time to fix basic problems. In my first spell I said we need to see my work in the first two months, same goes now. I have more experience now and I can see things with more coaching ability. Looking at the experience my predecessor had, I will have to be more cautious, trying to profit from Stanojevic`s experience. I have to be very cautious with all the details and decisions. I`ll say it again, we`ll have more clear view in a few months while my focus now will have to be on competitive football and problem fixing. Our position in the standings is way below par.
I didn`t think about our opponents yet. Partizan is a club always intending to win and we need to be dominant against our opponents but we must remain loyal to Partizan and club`s philosophy.
There is a space for individual progress and I`m not going to name names. I`ve been part of this club since 1989 and we always want to use what we have in the first place. We`ll try to get more from foreign players. It`s simple, foreign players have to make difference but we can`t put the blame on them now.
As for the youth academy…We sold Bazdar and Ilic, Markovic left recently, all Partizan kids. We will always have talented youths and this will be one of the focuses of the club in the future. Especially, when we find it much harder to finance ourselves compared to our bitter rivals. It`s bad we lost some of our youths who moved to other Serbian clubs but we`ll try to fix that as well.
As for the coaching team..Vukasinovic is staying and I gave the list of 12 names to the club`s director, including Nenad Cvetkovic and Marko Stojanovic. The rest are lads who already worked here.
